Light Source Selection Guide
Key factors for choosing the right illumination
Light Source Type Selection
Ring lights for general surface inspection, back lights for silhouette/dimension measurement, bar lights for large-area illumination, coaxial lights for reflective surfaces, dome lights for curved/irregular surfaces.
Wavelength Selection
Red (625nm) for general use, Blue (470nm) for high contrast on red objects, Green (520nm) for color camera compatibility, White for full-spectrum, IR for penetrating surface features, UV for fluorescence inspection.
Illumination Angle
Low angle (0-30°) for surface defect/scratch detection, high angle (60-90°) for printed mark reading, coaxial (0°) for mirror-like surfaces. The angle determines which surface features are highlighted or suppressed.
